A little over a week ago my sister-in-law’s pot bellied pig, Suzey, stopped getting up.
She’d stopped taking care of her hooves and wouldn’t let anyone trim them. Since she’s still so often we’re working on getting them back in shape. Suzey only gets up to drink and refuses to eat her feed. We’ve been hand feeding her fruit, but it’s not enough to keep her healthy.
Enter my treat making skills. I needed to pull something together that had everything she needed. I made a batch with her pig feed in it, but she refused. The new recipe is Suzey approved.
Suzey’s Honey Squares
3 cups sweet feed
2 cups 24% game bird starter/grower
1 1/2 cups unsweetened coconut
1tsp olive oil
Preheat oven to 400°. Mix wet and dry ingredients in separate bowls then mix them together by hand. Make sure everything is coated well! Pack into 9×13 pan or similar. Bake until edges are dark and center is firm. Let cool and cut into squares.
They smell like granola bars.
